The longer you go without moving, the stiffer you feel when you finally get home.
The good news is you don’t need to replicate your studio sessions while you’re away. You just need enough movement to keep your body honest.
That means maintaining your movement patterns, not chasing a workout. A few focused minutes each day will do more for you than one intense session you’ll probably skip.
We’ve Curated Three Plans That Will Work for Any Holiday. Pick the One That Fits Your Day.
Plan A: 10 Minutes a Day (Busy Travel Days)
On days when your schedule is packed and your energy is low, just 10 minutes can keep your body moving and your patterns intact.
Focus on Breath Work to reset your ribcage after sitting, Roll Downs to wake up your spine, a Spine Twist or two for Thoracic Rotation, and a Short Side Bend Series.
You can follow a guided 10-minute class through or just run through the sequence on your own.
Plan B: 20 Minutes, Three Times a Week
If your trip has some breathing room, three 20-minute sessions give you enough time to combine mobility and strength. Add a Bridge Series, some Single Leg work, and a Plank progression to the basics above.
This is enough to come home feeling like you haven’t lost anything.
Plan C: 40 Minutes on a Quiet Day
When you have the time, take it. A 40-minute session lets you move through a proper warm-up, build into some genuine strength work, and finish with mobility. Follow one of the full-length Pilates classes to maintain your movement sequencing and joint mobility.
Your Hotel Room is Fine
You need about two metres of floor space. Near a wall is fine if you want to use it for balance or a standing series.
Don’t Come Back Sore
Here’s what happens: you skip movement for a week, feel guilty, then smash a big session the day you get back.
Instead, keep your travel sessions controlled and moderate. Save the intensity for when your sleep, nutrition, and routine are back to normal. Your first session at home should feel easy. Your second can ramp up.
If you want a structured restart, studio sessions give you a clear pathway back in with an instructor who can assess where you’re at and adjust accordingly.
Keep Moving
You don’t need permission to take a week off from your studio. You also don’t need to let a trip undo your consistency. Ten minutes a day, a patch of floor, and the work you already know how to do.
